Headshot of Grayce looking to the left and smiling.

Hello, I’m Grayce.

I am a foresight strategist, designer, and storyteller who is captivated by analyzing the complex problems of today to plan for a better tomorrow.

My experience has allowed me to explore problems spanning the healthcare sector, municipal governance, post-secondary education, design, and fintech. In my work, I explore possible futures and innovations with a focus on equity, empathy, and human-centred design. I explore the various ways we can create new opportunities for our communities while working to understand and prepare for possible futures.

Capabilities

  • To truly gain perspective and understanding, research has to occur. With over seven years of experience, Grayce often weaves mixed-method studies into her work; using qualitative and quantitative methods to best capture the ‘big’ picture of a project. Her research aims to understand internal and external factors while uncovering underlying patterns. Some methods may include;

    • Case Studies

    • Literature Reviews

    • Interviews

    • Focus Groups

    • Surveys

    • Horizon Scanning

    • (Digital) Ethnography

    • Conceptual Research

    • Participatory Action Research

  • As a trained futurist Grayce intertwines futures thinking into her everyday work. She focuses on centering human experiences at the base of her research; assisting her in developing an array of possible, plausible, and preferred futures. By applying a variety of methods, Grayce can assist in uncovering gaps and highlighting opportunities for projects, products, and organizations to best prepare for any situation. Some methods may include;

    • Horizon Scanning

    • Trend / Driver Analysis

    • Future Searching

    • Scenario Planning

    • Quantitative Analysis

    • Virtual or In-Person Workshops

    • Immersive Futures Development

    • Talks and Lectures

  • Design isn't just about visualization or making things nice; it is much more. Because Grayce has a background in service design and innovation, she places humans at the centre of all her work. She highlights that design has the ability to make something new, beneficial, and communicable. Stating that designers can create service plans that illustrate sustainable solutions and optimal experiences for products people want, need, and like. Some methods and tools Grayce can incorporate are;

    • Stakeholder Analysis

    • Ecosystem Mapping

    • Human-centred Design

    • Journey Mapping

    • Service Patterning

    • Service Blueprinting

I focus on

“exploring ways we can create new opportunities for our communities while working to understand and prepare for possible futures.”

Future of Online and Digital Learning in Post-Secondary Art Institutions

Printed report on a table.

Exploring the state of online and digital learning in Post-Secondary Art (PSA) institutions while highlighting key challenges and opportunities for change. The project aimed to visualize possible future scenarios for learning and provided recommendations to assist in planning for the future of these institutions. By using foresight methodologies, the project generated four scenarios that transported readers to 2040 and provided them with alternative learning landscapes through technology.

Illustrated Online Dating Personas on tablets, phones, and laptops.

Systems and Strategy of Online Dating

Focused on a multi-lens approach by discussing the social, economic, environmental, political, and values implications of the current and future of online dating. The project included various tools and methods from foresight and systems thinking practices to create a synthesis map designed as a communicative artifact that translates multiple knowledge perspectives about the social system revolving around online dating to illustrate the emerging dilemmas and challenges within this complex system scenario.

Future of Nature as Technology

Printed Futures Report on a table.

Leveraged strategic foresight research practices to co-create scenarios for the future of nature as technology in 2040. Built a (hypothetical) systemic overview of these futures while focusing on reimagining a future where nature takes over in technological realms. We used a multi-lens approach discussing the social, economic, environmental, political, and values implications of the future of nature as technology in 2040. Methods used include trend research and analysis, scenario development, and grounding the research in an experiential, representational, and immersive experience.

Community Youth Mapping

Grayce presents research project to Hub members.

This research was sponsored by Canada World Youth (CWY) and Youth Challenge International (YCI). The goal was to analyze, design, and execute research with the organizations' students to understand their needs, how the organizations' services were tackling those needs, and to recommend additional services to meet unmet needs. We conducted user-centred, participatory research with the organization’s youth and community leaders. We executed the study in a multicultural and bilingual environment to identify the services and resources available for youth to develop sustainable livelihoods in the country. I acted as design lead for our research tools as well as the designer for the final research report. Additionally, I co-led the execution of qualitative and quantitative research and data analysis.

Scope of Work: Participatory Action Research | Stakeholder Analysis | Human Factors Analysis | Experience Mapping | Service Design

Workshop Creation and Facilitation

Grayce presents the group brainstorm efforts to participants.

With over seven years of experience creating and facilitating engaging meetings, workshops, and conferences. Whether virtual or in-person, Grayce has had the opportunity to intertwine impactful engagement tools to ensure clients receive opportunities for unique collaboration and problem-finding, defining, or solving.
